Samai Dosai | Little Millets Dosa | Diabetic Diet Recipe

Samai Dosa or Little Millet Dosa is one of the healthy nutritious breakfast recipe which is good for diabetic and hypertensive patients. It is rich in fiber and is also good for people of all ages. Samai dosa tastes will give you a feeling of fullness and also stops craving for food. Here the same batter can be used to make both idlis and dosas. Tastes well with Tomato Chutney and Madurai Poondu chutney.

Little Millets Dosa
 

Samai Dosa


Ingredients for making Samai / Little Millets Dosa         

2 Cups Samai
3/4 cup Urad dal
1/2 cup Idli rice
1/2 cup Aval / Poha
1/2 tablespoon Fenugreek seeds
Salt to taste
Oil for making dosas.

Method for making Samai / Little Millets Dosa 

1. Wash the millets with water 3 times to get rid of impurities and Soak the millets, idli rice, fenugreek seeds, urad dal together for 3 hours in water. Wash and soak the aval in water for half an hour.

2. Drain water and grind Millets along with poha to a smooth batter by adding very little water. Do not add more water as it may become runny.

3. Now mix both the contents with required salt together.  Allow this to stand for 6-8 hours or keep for overnight fermentation.

5. After fermentation store the batter in a refrigerator.



6. Heat the dosa tawa and take a ladleful of batter and spread as dosa and flip it. Add oil around the dosa.



Little Millets Dosai is ready to be served with any Chutney of your choice.
