Tomato garlic Chutney | Varamilagai Poondu Chutney

Tomato garlic chutney, a spicy and tasty easy to make chutney which goes well with idli, dosa, and even for chapathis and parathas. I learnt this recipe from my Mom who is a wonderful chef.  The main ingredients for making this tomato chutney are Tomatoes, red chillies and Garlic. Just give a try and you will love it.

Tomato garlic Chutney



Ingredients needed to make Tomato garlic Chutney |

Ripe tomatoes - 4
Garlic - 8 nos.
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Varamilagai / Dried Red chilly - 5
Gingely oil - 1 tbsp.
 A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Tomato garlic Chutney |

1. Wash and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.

2. Peel the skin of garlic and then add the chopped tomatoes, garlic and red chillies in a mixie and grind to a smooth paste without adding water.

3. Heat oil in a kadai splutter the mustard seeds and then add the ground contents and saute well till the raw smell disappears. I always use small garlic as it gives a good flavour.

Note: While serving you can add little gingely oil and mix just as you do for idli podi.
You can add more red chillies if you want little spicy.
