Sweet Banana Appam, also known as Inippu Paniyaram, is a delicious traditional South Indian sweet prepared for special occasions and festivals such as Varalakshmi Pooja, Deepavali, Ayudha Pooja, Karthigai Deepam, Vinayaga Chaturthi, and many other celebrations. Ingredients required to make Inippu Appam

Raw rice  - 1 cup
Maida - 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Banana - 1 
Cashews - 10 nos.
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp.
Chopped coconut pieces - A handful
Ghee for frying.

Method for making Inippu Appam


1. Take jaggery with little amount of water and heat in a kadai. Let the jaggery melt and switch off when you get a syrup like consistency.


2. Take 1 big sized banana or 2 small bananas in a mixer and grind to a smooth paste. Always use ripe bananas.


3. Mix rice flour, maida, ground banana paste, coconut pieces, cardamom and jaggery syrup into a smooth batter. Roast the cashews in ghee and add to the above batter.


4. Add water if required to get a smooth batter like consistency.




4. Heat oil in a kadai and with a round spatula pour this batter, cook and then turn this to the other side and wait till it becomes golden brown.





5. Repeat this with the remaining batter.

Now the sweet banana appam is ready for neiveidhyam.
