Onion Tomato Chutney in Grandmother's Style - Tiffin Chutney Recipes - Diabetic Chutney Recipes

Onion tomato chutney is a simple chutney recipe which goes well with idli and dosa. The tangy taste of the tomato and the garlicy taste enhances the aroma of the chutney. This chutney is good for diabetics and those who want to reduce their weight because we do not use coconut.


Ingredients for making onion tomato chutney

Tomato – 2
Onion – 2
Red chillies – 4-6
Garlic – 3
A pinch of Asafoetida
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad dal - 1tsp.
A sprig of curry leaves
Salt as required.

Method  for making onion tomato chutney

1. Heat oil and saute the red chillies, then add the chopped onions and garlic saute well till they become transparrent. Add the tomatoes and saute well till it gets blended with the onions.

2. Allow this to cool and then grind in a mixer along with salt.

3. Season with mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.

Enjoy this onion tomato chutney with Kushboo idli and dosa.
