Vegetable Roll | Katti Roll | Chapathi Veg Roll

Vegetable Roll is a perfect lunchbox recipe made by wrapping vegetable stuffing into chapathis. vegetables are mixed with spices to give a flavor and aroma. These crunchy Katti Rolls are a balanced diet for growing kids which can be easily packed for lunch.

Chapathi Roll

Ingredients needed for making Vegetable Katti Roll

For making Chapathis
Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Salt as needed
Water as required 
Oil as required

For making Masala Stuffing
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Thinly sliced Beans - 1/2 cup
Thinly shredded Cabbage - 1 cup
Thinly sliced Capsicum - 1/2 cup
Thinly sliced Onions - 1 cup
Thinly sliced Tomatoes - 1/2 cup
Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp.
Coriander powder - 1 tsp.
A pinch of Turmeric powder
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp.
Grated cheese - 1/2 cup
Salt as required
Oil as required

Method for making Vegetable Roll 

Stuffing For Katti Roll

1. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan or kadai. Then add cumin seeds. Let them splutter. Then add sliced onions and saute till the onions turn translucent.

2. Next add 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.Saute till the raw smell of both ginger and garlic goes away.

3. Add ½ cup chopped tomatoes mix well and saute the tomatoes on a low to medium flame  till they soften. 

4. Add the sliced beans and cabbage and saute well. Cook by just sprinkling water till the veggies are half cooked.

5. Then add turmeric powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder. Saute well and cook in a low to medium flame for 5 minutes.

6. Then add chopped capsicum saute for two or three minutes add required salt and mix well.

7. Cook on a low to medium flame saute for 4 to 5 minutes. Make sure that the vegetable stuffing is dry.

8. Next add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Making Rotis For Veg Kathi Roll

1. Make a dough as you make for chapathi. Allow it to rest for 30 minutes, divide the dough into small or medium sized balls. 

2. Dust the dough ball with some flour and gently roll to thin roti. 

3. Place the chapthi on a hot tawa and cook the base till you see bubbles appearing on the rotis now flip over and spread little oil and cook till see golden brown spots on the roti.

Making Kathi Roll

1. Now take a single roti. Spread 1 tsp. of tomato sauce.

2. Spread little grated cheese and place the mix veggie stuffing in the centre. You can also add mint coriander chutney before placing the stuffing.

3. Now roll the chapathi with the stuffing into rolls.

Serve veg kathi roll just as such or with Mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
