How to make Tamil Nadu Style Broccoli Poriyal Recipe
Broccoli Stir fry is a healthy side dish recipe which is good and energetic due to its high nutrient content, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Ingredients needed to make Broccoli Poriyal
Broccoli - 1 medium size
Chopped Onions - 1 cup
Chopped tomatoes (optional) - 1/2 cup
A sprig of curry leaves
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp.
Coriander Powder - 2 tbsp.
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp.
Salt as required
Oil as required
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Split urad dal - 1 tsp.
Method to make Broccoli Poriyal
1. Chop the broccoli into small florets.
2. Boil the water with a pinch of turmeric powder. Once it starts to boil, switch off the gas and add the broccoli florets and blanch it for 60 seconds.
3. Now strain the water and keep the broccoli aside.
4. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let it splutter for few minutes. Add the urad dal and when it turns brown add in the curry leaves, chopped onion, tomatoes and saute till the onions are translucent and light brown.
5. Once it is done, add the blanched broccoli and stir well. Close with a lid and then add the spice powders given in the ingredients list along with salt.
6. Close and cook till the broccoli turns soft.
Serve the Tamil Nadu Style Broccoli Poriyal Recipe along with Vegetable Biryani or Mixed Vegetable Sambar, or any variety rice recipe.
