Vegetable Uthappam | Mixed Vegetable Uttapa | South Indian Vegetable Thick Dosa

Vegetable Uthappam

Ingredients for making Vegetable Uthappam

Idli dosa batter - 3 cups
Onions chopped  - 1 cup
Capsicum chopped  1/2 
Tomatoes chopped - 1 cup
Grated carrots - 1/2 cup
Green chilli chopped - 2 nos.
Coriander leaves - A handful
Oil as required

Method for making Vegetable Uthappam

1. To a mixing bowl add all the chopped vegetables. Chop them finely or else it will not taste good. Add little salt and mix well.


2. Now take a laddle full of batter and pour on the dosa tawa. Do not spread like dosa just pour and spread to a thick dosa.

3. Add the vegetable mix on top and gently press with the spoon. 

4. Pour oil around and close with a lid. Cook for 2 mins in low medium flame.


5. Now open the lid and flip over and cook for 2 mins.


You can make small or big sized uthapam of your choice.

Now the Mixed vegetable Uthapam is ready to be served with Sambar, chutney or idli podi.

Note: You can add veggies as per your preference but always try to choose the vegetables which will cook faster. You can also spread idli podi on the top of the vegetables. If you use 3 days old batter the sourness will give a flavor. You can also add a tbsp. of curd for getting sour taste.
