Cabbage Beans Carrot Poriyal | Kalyana Veetu Kadamba Poriyal

Kadamba Poriyal is a combination of cabbage, beans and carrot which gives a pleasing and colourful look. Here I have used equal proportions of cabbage, beans and carrot. This tricolour healthy poriyal is served in Tamil Nadu in many marriages and functions and is also called as Kalyana veetu Poriyal. This is an easy to make recipe in which the veggies are tossed with the aroma of cumin seeds and green chillies. Try this carrot, cabbage, beans poriyal in your kitchen.

Cabbage Beans Carrot Poriyal 

 Ingredients for making Kalyana Veetu Kadamba Poriyal

Beans - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Carrot - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Cabbage - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Onion - 1 
Green chillies - 2 nos. (slit lengthwise)
Red chilli - 1
Mustard seeds - 1tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Split urad dal - 2 tsp.
A pinch of turmeric powder.
Grated coconut - 2 tbsp.
A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Kalyana Veetu Kadamba Poriyal

1. Take equal proportions of finely chopped beans, carrot and cabbage. 




2. Heat oil in a kadai add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds and allow it to splutter next add the red chillies and split urad dal when the dal turns brown add the curry leaves.

3. Next add the finely chopped onions and green chillies and saute till they become transparent.



4. Now add the chopped vegetables and mix well.

5. Add salt and turmeric powder saute well for 2 minutes and then add 1/2 cup of water and close it with a lid and cook in a medium flame.

6. It will take just 3 to 5 minutes for it to be cooked. Avoid overcooking to retain the colour.

7. After it is cooked add grated coconut and stir well.

Now the yummy healthy Kadamba poriyal is ready for lunch.

Serve this with Sambar, Kaara Kuzhambu or Rasam.
