Kothamalli Sadam / Coriander Rice - Lunchbox Recipes

Ingredients for making Kothamalli Sadam 

Raw Rice - 2 cups
coriander leaves- 1 bunch
green chillies- 4
coconut (grated)- 2 tbsp
onion- 1
salt to taste

For seasoning
oil- 2 tbsp.
mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp
channa dal- 1 tsp
red chillies-2
ginger- a small pice chopped finely
curryleaves- a few
asafoetida- little

Method for making Kothamalli Sadam 

1. Wash the coriander bunch with water and chop them.

2. Grind coriander leaves, coconut and green chillies to coarse paste.

3. Wash the raw rice and then cook in a pressure cooker adding 4 cups of water.

4. Heat oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds, channa dal, red chillies, asafoetida, ginger and curry leaves.

5. Next add the chopped onions and saute till it turns transparent. Add the ground coriander paste and salt. and saute well till the raw smell disappears.

6. Now add the cooked rice and mix well.

Now the Kothamalli Sadam is ready to be packed in lunchbox. You can even squeeze a piece of lemon to enhance the flvour.
