Spiritual Significance of Aippasi

Aippasi is considered an auspicious month for prayers, temple visits, charity, and spiritual observances. Aippasi Pournami Annabhishekam is especially significant, as Lord Shiva’s lingam is ceremonially covered with cooked rice in several temples, including the famous temple at Gangaikondacholapuram. This offering symbolises gratitude for food, nourishment, and prosperity.

Aippasi is also associated with Thula Maasam, the period when the Sun enters Libra, or Thula Rasi. According to tradition, devotees take sacred baths in the Cauvery River during this month, believing that the ritual brings spiritual purification and divine blessings.
