Tamil Nadu Style Poori Potato Masala | Poori Urulai Kizhangu puttu

 Poori Potato Masala or Poori Urulai Kizhangu puttu is one of the perfect and tasty traditional side dish recipe which goes well with poori. Here I have given you the traditional method of cooking Poori Masala. Poori Urulai Kizhangu puttu

Ingredients to make Poori Masala

Potato - 5 nos.
Onions - 2 nos.
Grated Ginger - 1 tbsp.
Garlic - 10 nos.
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp.
Green Chillies  - 2 nos.
Salt as required
A sprig of curry leaves
Chopped coriander leaves - A handful
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad dal - 1 tsp.
Bengal gram dal - 1 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.

Method for making Poori Masala

1. Heat oil in a kadai, splutter the cumin seeds and mustard seeds, add the dals.

2. When the dal turns brown add chopped onions cut lenghtwise. Fry till they become transparent. Now add the curry leaves and saute well.

3. Add the chopped ginger, garlic followed by turmeric powder and required amount of salt. Mix well.

5. Mash the boiled potatoes with little water and then add this to the above mixture.

6. Mix the potatoes with the masala and allow this to boil for 5 minutes in a low flame.

7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with Pooris or chapathi.
