Spicy Cabbage Curry | Kara Cabbage Poriyal

Cabbage Kara Poriyal is a healthy tasty Side dish recipe which goes well with variety rice, sambar and for chapathi. Here finely chopped cabbage is cooked and blended with masala spices which gives a flavour and makes it more healthier. This is just the same cabbage poriyal but here we make it more spicy. Good for diabetic people.

 Ingredients for making Cabbage Kara Poriyal

Cabbage - 2 cups (finely chopped)
Onion - 1 
Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp.
Green chillies - 2 nos. (slit lengthwise)
Red chilli - 1
Fennel seeds - 1tsp.
Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp.
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp.
A pinch of turmeric powder.
A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Cabbage Spicy Poriyal

1. Chop the cabbage, onions and green chillies into fine pieces.

2. Heat oil in a kadai add the fennel seeds and allow it to splutter next add the red chillies and  and the curry leaves.

3. Next add the finely chopped onions and green chillies and saute till they become transparent. Add ginger garlic paste and saute well.

4. Now add the chopped cabbage and mix well. 

5. Add salt, masala powders and turmeric powder saute well for 2 minutes and then add 1/2 cup of water and close it with a lid and cook in a medium flame.

6. It will take just 3 to 5 minutes for it to be cooked. Avoid overcooking to retain the colour.

Now the yummy healthy Spicy Cabbage poriyal is ready for lunch.

Serve this with SambarKaara Kuzhambu or Rasam.
