Rava Gulab Jamun
Sooji Gulab Jamun

Ingredients for making Rava Gulab Jamun

Sooji / Rava - 1 cup
Ghee - 2 tbsp
A pinch of baking powder
Almonds for garnishing
Sugar - 2 cups
Milk - 3 cups
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp.
Oil for deep frying.

Method for making Sooji / Rava Gulab Jamun


  1. Take rava in a dry pan and roast for 2 mins. Transfer it to a bowl.
  2. Boil milk in a pan and bring it to a boil. Add ghee and 3 tbsps sugar and mix well.
  3. Add rava to the milk sugar mixture slowly and keep mixing. Cook till it thickens. Keep stirring till it gets cooked. Wait till it is completely thick and dry. Once it thickens switch off the flame.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool.
  5. Take sugar and water in a pan, boil it and cook till sugar becomes syrup. Add cardamom and saffron and mix well. Set aside and keep warm.
  6. Once the sooji mixture is cooled, knead the dough and roll them into small jamun balls.
  7. Heat oil in a kadai and drop ball in medium hot oil and fry till golden brown. Drain and add immediately into the syrup. Let it soak for 1 hr or leave it overnight.

Hot Sooji Gulab Jamuns are ready to be served.
