Cabbage Moong Dal Poriyal | Cabbage Poriyal without coconut | Diabetic Recipes

Cabbage Siruparuppu Poriyal is a healthy tasty Side dish recipe for lunch. Here finely chopped cabbage is cooked with moong dal which gives a flavour and makes it more healthier. This is just the same cabbage poriyal but here we use moong dal and omit grated coconuts. Good for diabetic people.



 Ingredients for making Cabbage Poriyal

Cabbage - 2 cups (finely chopped)
Onion - 1 
Green chillies - 2 nos. (slit lengthwise)
Red chilli - 1
Mustard seeds - 1tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Split urad dal - 2 tsp.
A pinch of turmeric powder.
A handful of Moong dal
A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Cabbage Moong Dal Poriyal

1. Chop the cabbage, onions and green chillies into fine pieces.

2. Heat oil in a kadai add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds and allow it to splutter next add the red chillies and split urad dal when the dal turns brown add the curry leaves.

3. Next add the finely chopped onions and green chillies and saute till they become transparent.

4. Now add the chopped cabbage and mix well. Add a handful of Moong dal and saute well.

5. Add salt and turmeric powder saute well for 2 minutes and then add 1/2 cup of water and close it with a lid and cook in a medium flame.

6. It will take just 3 to 5 minutes for it to be cooked. Avoid overcooking to retain the colour.

Now the yummy healthy Cabbage poriyal is ready for lunch.

Serve this with SambarKaara Kuzhambu or Rasam.
