Pudina Sadam | Pudina Rice | Mint Rice Recipe

Pudina Sadam or Mint Rice is one of the yummy and tasty rice delicacy of South India which is very healthy and tasty lunchbox recipe. Ingredients for making Pudina Sadam 

Raw Rice - 3 cups cooked


For Grinding:

Mint leaves- 2 cup
green chillies- 4
coconut (grated)- 2 tbsp
Garlic - 7 cloves
Salt to taste

For seasoning

Groundnut oil- 2 tbsp.
mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp.
channa dal- 1 tsp
red chillies-2
Cashew - 10 nos.
ginger- a small piece chopped finely
curry leaves- a few
asafoetida- little


Method for making Pudina Sadam 

1. Grind all the ingredients given in the list to a fine paste. Set this aside.

2. Heat oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds after it splutters add the urad dal, chana dal, red chillies, curry leaves and cashews. Next add the chopped onions, ginger and asafoetida and sauté for a minute till they turn transparent.

3. Add the ground masala and mix well. Cook till oil separates. It will take around 10 mins. Now the Mint Rice Paste is done.

4. Add in cooked rice and mix well. Saute for 2 mins.

Serve Pudina Rice with any South Indian Varuval or Vadai.
