Easy to make Bread Upma Recipe | Bread Pieces Blended with Spices | Breakfast / Evening Snack Recipe

Bread Upma is one of the simple and easy to make breakfast recipe that can be made into 20 minutes. Here we cut the bread into small pieces and blend them with spices, onions and green chillies. You can also add cooked vegetables of your choice to make it a wholesome nutritious meal.



Ingredients needed for making Bread Upma

Bread pieces - 2 cups
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
A sprig of curry leaves
1 tsp finely chopped ginger
Green chilies - 2 nos.
Onions - 1 no.
Tomatoes - 1 no.
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Lemon juice - 1 tsp.
salt to taste
Few coriander leaves

Method for making Bread Upma

1. Cut the bread into small pieces.

2. Heat the oil in a pan and mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When the seeds change the color, add the curry leaves, ginger, green chilies and onions. Saute well for 2 minutes.

3. Add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and saute well. Mix well and sprinkle little water and cook on a medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.

4. Add the bread and mix well so that the spice mixture coats the bread pieces. Cook on a medium heat for 2 minutes.

5. Switch off the flame and add coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well. 

Serve hot with Chutney or Tomato Sauce.
