Healthy Beans Poriyal - Green Beans Stir Fry - Beans Curry

Beans Poriyal is one of the main lunch side dish recipe in almost all South Indian Lunch Menu. This is made during festivals and is very healthy poriyal recipe for kids and even for old people. Here I have added Grated Coconut if you serve this for old people try cooking with Moong dal.



Ingredients for making Beans Poriyal

Beans - 1/4 kg
Onion - 1
Red chilli - 2
Mustard seeds - 1tsp.
Split urad dal - 2 tsp.
A pinch of turmeric powder.
Grated coconut - 2 tbsp.
A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Beans Poriyal

1. Finely chop the beans and onion.

2. Heat oil in a kadai add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter next add the red chillies and split urad dal when the dal turns brown add the curry leaves.

3. Next add the finely chopped onions and saute till they become transparent.

4. Now add the chopped beans and saute well.

5. Add salt and turmeric powder sprinkle some water and close it with a lid and cook in a medium flame.

6. It will take just 3 to 5 minutes for it to be cooked. Avoid overcooking to retain the green color.

7. After it is cooked add grated coconut and stir well.

Now the yummy healthy greeny beans poriyal is ready for lunch.
