Beetroot Poriyal | Beetroot Stir Fry | Healthy South Indian Poriyal Recipe

Ingredients for making Beetroot Poriyal


Beetroot  - 4 nos.
Onion - 1
Red chilli - 1 no.
Green chilly - 1 no.
Mustard seeds - 1tsp.
Split urad dal - 2 tsp.
A pinch of turmeric powder.
Moong dal - 2 tbsp.
Grated coconut - 2 tbsp.
A sprig of curry leaves

Method for making Long Beans/ Karamani Poriyal


1. Finely chop or grate the beetroots. Chop the onions and green chilly.

2. Heat oil in a kadai add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter next add the urad dal and red chillies when the dal turns brown add the curry leaves.

3. Next add the finely chopped onions and green chillies and saute till they become transparent.

4. Now add the finely chopped beetroots and saute well. Next add the moong dal and stir well.

5. Add salt and turmeric powder mix well and close it with a lid and cook in a medium flame.

6. It will take just 3 to 5 minutes for it to be cooked. Avoid overcooking.

7. After it is cooked add grated coconut and stir well.

Now the yummy healthy Beetroot poriyal is ready for lunch.
