Wheat Onion Samosa | Homemade Crispy Onion Samosa

Samosas are quick and delicious evening snack recipe loved by people of all ages. Here I have given you the recipe for crispy Onion samosas. Onions are sliced and tossed with spices and stuffed inside to make samosas.  In this recipe I have added grated carrots and cabbages to make it more tastier. I have used wheat flour instead of Maida to make it more soft and healthy. Try this wheat samosa and enjoy.

Homemade Onion Samosa

Ingredients for making Onion Samosa

Wheat flour – 2 cup
Maida - 2 tbsp.
Onions – 4
Grated carrots - 2
Cabbage - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
A sprig of Curry leaves
Saunf – 1 tsp.
Green chillies - 2 nos. (chopped)
Chilli powder – 1 tsp.
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp.
Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup (chopped)
A pinch of Turmeric powder

Method for making Onion Samosa

1. Mix the Wheat flour, salt and 1 tsp of hot oil with enough water to make soft dough. Cover this and keep  aside.

2. Heat little oil in a kadai and add saunf and curry leaves, then add the finely chopped onions, carrots, cabbage and saute well for few seconds.

3. Add the chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and the required amount of salt and saute well. Transfer this to a bowl and allow this to cool.Now your stuffing is 

4. Roll the dough like a chappathi and slightly cook on both sides. It should be half cooked.

5. Now cut the chapathis into 2 pieces. Fold this in the form of a cone and stuff this with the onion filling.

6. Make a paste of maida with water paste and seal the corners of the samosa.

7. Prepare tiny samosas using the dough and fill as many as you require. Keep this in refrigerator for 15 minutes.

8. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the samosas in a medium flame till they become golden brown.


Hot and crispy Wheat Onion Samosas are ready to be served with Mint Chutney or  tomato ketchup.
